DERMAL FILLERS
Dermal filler injections contain hyaluronic acid – a substance that is naturally found in our skin which gives the skin many of its youthful characteristics such as volume and elasticity. Dermal fillers add volume to the treated area which can help soften lines and wrinkles as well as improve facial contouring and profile balancing.
LIP FILLER
Lip filler is one of our favourite treatments at Derma Mayfair. Dermal filler can be used to improve the appearance of your lips in a number of ways, including increasing lip volume, enhancing the lip shape, accentuating the cupid's bow, and also profile balancing.

NASOLABIAL FOLDS
The nasolabial folds are often referred to as the ‘smile lines.’ They are the lines that appear from the corners of the nose down towards the corners of the mouth. As we age the nasolabial fold lines can become more prominent due to loss of volume. Using dermal filler we can restore volume to the areas most affected to offset the loss of volume and reduce shadowing in the area.

MARIONETTE LINES
The marionette lines affect the lower part of the face. These lines start at the corner of the mouth down towards the chin. Marionette lines occur due to loss of volume associated with ageing and can cause an angular shadow. Dermal filler can be placed using a variety of techniques to restore lost volume in the lower part of the face to improve the appearance of these lines and decrease shadowing.

CHEEK FILLER
Cheek filler is becoming increasing popular amongst all age groups. As we age our facial shape tends to become squarer due to both the long-standing effects of gravity and also due to loss of volume in the mid/upper face. Dermal filler can be used to add volume to the cheeks and also enable contouring of the face. The increased volume in the mid face helps to create a fuller, plumper appearance that gives us a youthful look.

JAW FILLER
Jaw filler treatments are often combined with cheek and chin treatments. Dermal filler can be used to better define the jaw line and create a more sculpted appearance of the lower face.

NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY
One of the facial areas we tend to worry about the most is the appearance of our nose. Using dermal filler, we can reshape the nose to create excellent results without the burden of undergoing a surgical procedure. Dermal filler can be used to reduce the appearance of nasal bumps and droopiness. A small amount of filler can also be used to lift the tip of the nose, which improved facial profiling and gives a better connection of the three most central facial features - the nose, the mouth, and the chin.

TEAR TROUGH
The area of dark shadowing that forms under the eyes which is often associated with a tired looking appearance is known as the tear troughs. Tear troughs form due to a loss of volume in the mid face. Dermal filler can be carefully inserted into the affected region under the eyes to restore volume and significantly improve the shadowed appearance. It is often recommended to improve volume loss in the mid face with cheek filler before treating the tear troughs but your doctor will be able to guide you at your appointment.

FILLER DISSOLVING
Dermal filler can be dissolved using a substance called hyaluronidase. If you have had previous dermal filler that needs to be dissolved either for cosmetic or medical reasons then this can be done quite easily. Hypersensitivity/allergic reaction to the hyaluronidase is very rare but for your safety when dissolving filler we first of all perform a patch test on all patients. This is where a very small amount of the dissolving substance is injected into a safe area such as the arm to assess for any hypersensitivity/allergic reaction to the substance before using it on an area such as the face.

PROFHILO
Profhilo is a new technology skin treatment which acts as a ‘beneath the skin’ moisturiser. Profhilo is made from high concentration hyaluronic acid which works to stimulate the skin cells in order to improve and restore skin firmness. Profhilo not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue.
It is recommended to have two sessions of Profhilo treatment four weeks apart for optimal results and then to repeat this treatment six months later to maintain optimal skin hydration.
FOREHEAD LINES / FROWN LINES / CROWS FEET
Upper face anti-wrinkle injections are one of the most commonly requested treatments amongst our patients. The forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet are three different areas that are often treated together to reduce unwanted fine lines and wrinkles in the upper face. The anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing some of the muscles in the forehead and around the eyes that are working in various facial expressions such as raising the eyebrows, frowning and laughter.

ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS
Anti-wrinkle injections, often referred to as Botox injections, contain botulinum toxin. This acts to relax muscles therefore softening fine lines and removing wrinkles. They are now widely used to achieve a younger appearance. Treatments using anti-wrinkle injections can take approximately two weeks before they reach full effect.
CHEMICAL BROW LIFT
A chemical brow lift is achieved by using a small dose of botulinum toxin to target the area of muscle underneath the outer half of the eyebrow. This acts to relax the muscle and as a result a subtle but noticeable brow lift can be achieved. Typically, this treatment is combined with frown line anti-wrinkle injections for better results.

GUMMY SMILE
A gummy smile appearance is often caused when a person’s upper lip contracts into a higher than normal position whilst smiling resulting in great visibility of the gumline. Using a small
dose of botulinum toxin the overactive muscles just above the upper lip can be relaxed which will result in less exposure of the gum whilst smiling.

BUNNY LINES
Bunny lines can be treated with the use of botulinum toxin. These are the small fine lines that appear at either side of the top of the nose on certain facial expression such as smiling. The muscles that cause the appearances of these lines can be relaxed to reduce the appearance of the bunny lines.

DIMPLED CHIN
For patients troubled by the appearance of chin dimpling, the overactive lower chin muscles which can cause this appearance can be mildly relaxed to reduce the appearance of a dimpled chin.

DOWNTURNED MOUTH
Botulinum toxin injections can be used to relax the depressor angului oris muscle which usually provides a downward pull at the corners of the mouth. Once this muscle is relaxed, the muscles that elevate the corners of the mouth have a more enhanced effect, thus reducing the appearance of downturned corners of the mouth.

JAWLINE SLIMMING / TEETH GRINDING
The jawline can be slimmed by injecting botulinum toxin in to the masseter muscle which is the chewing muscle in the jaw. Unlike most botulinum toxin procedures where results are effective at approximately 2 weeks post-treatment, botulinum toxin to the masseter muscle typically takes approximately six weeks before a difference is noticeable.

NEFERTITI NECK LIFT
The use of botulium toxin in various areas from the lower jaw line down to the neck can result in a ‘neck lift’ which improves the definition of the jaw line, limits the appearance of jowls and overall gives an upward ‘neck lift’ effect.

HYPERHYDROSIS
One of the most effective uses of botulinum toxin is the treatment of excessive underarm sweating. Many patients report significant improvements in their quality of life with much better controlled underarm sweating following the treatment. Effects take place approximately one week after treatment and last approximately six months.

WHY DOES OUR APPEARANCE CHANGE AS WE AGE?
As part of the natural ageing process each individual experiences a number of changes to their facial structures which results in a change in appearance. Some of the key changes include both bone resorption and fat resorption as we age. As well this there are changes to the skin structure such as a loss of collagen. Overall as we age there is both a loss of volume and a loss of skin density which changes the way we look.
